Tips:
Original recipe calls for ketchup. I used bbq sauce, although Lee-Anne has been encouraging me to try using ketchup as a base when called for, even if I dislike the condiment. Just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Description:
I got this recipe while researching for the WALES recipe book, although the person who made this wound up choosing something else as his entry since I was only taking one per person. The original version is called Sloppy Joes, which is the standard name. Normally people just use a canned, premade sauce for this dish, while this one takes the time to make one out of ingredients. So I called them Sloppy Josephs, as it's a slightly longer name for something that takes slightly longer to make.
I find that this is a pretty common meal in childhood, but seldom done as an adult. I think the last time I made a variant of these was in college, and when I did it then I reflected on how long it had been at the time since I'd had them.
This is my 100th recipe on this blog. Rattatouille was the 100th post, but because I had that caring for cast iron post, that make this the 100th recipe.
